RICHMOND, Va. -- It's not like Terry Labonte doesn't know what it's like to start from the pole at Richmond. It's just been a while.

Labonte put up a lap of 126.511 mph Friday at the .75-mile Richmond International Raceway oval in qualifying for Saturday night's Pontiac Excitement 400, then withstood the challenge for his first Bud Pole in three seasons.
